My flights went smoothly (except for the insult of receiving fruit instead of desert because I ordered a vegetarian meal... why would they think I wanted to eat healthy? vegetarians like milanos too) and I am now in Andrew's apartment. Twelve hour flights are objectively terrible, but I on the plus side, I finally got to watch the last Hobbit movie on the plane.
I foolishly assumed that as long as I made myself go to bed and wake up at normal times, I'd magically have no jet-lag. It turns out spending 24 hours flying is pretty exhausting, but I did make it out of the apartment to have lunch. I'm still getting used to the how cheap restaurants are here. Our lunch, which was dumplings and soymilk for two people, cost the equivalent of $7 USD. It's been pretty easy to find good vegetarian food; the dumplings I ate were so good I was briefly afraid they were actually meat.
Here are some pictures. Tomorrow is the dragon boat festival and I've been told that there are some happy stray cats that hang around Andrew's neighborhood because college students like to feed them, so I have two things to be excited about tomorrow.
